Turkish Airlines Carried Humanitarian Aid to Libya Turkey delivered 22 tons of medicine and medical supplies to Libya on Wednesday, Turkish Foreign Ministry said. “In response to the needs of various hospitals and health centers in Libya, the Turkish Red Crescent, with the coordination of Turkey’s Disaster and Emergency Management Presidency (AFAD), dispatched to Libya 22 tons of medicine and medical supplies on 24 May 2017,” according to a statement. Supplies were delivered to the Ministry of Health of the Libyan Government of National Accord by the Turkish Embassy in Tripoli, it said. “Turkey which attaches special importance to the stabilization of Libya and supports the Libyan Presidency Council’s efforts to this end, will continue to exert every effort in alleviating the needs of the friendly and brotherly people of Libya,” the statement added. Turkish carriers were not flying to Libya due to security issues. The delegation to receive the shipment included the attendance of the Director of the Asian Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Abdul Razzaq Abograd, the Turkish Ambassador to Libya, Ahmet Aydın Dogan along with a number of embassy staff. Also in attendance was the Director of the Department of International Cooperation in the Ministry of Health Abdel Minam Al Shams and a number of specialists in the medical supply system.
